Point Monarch Newletter - July 2026

Türkiye vs Paraguay at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, June 19, 2026

Welcome!

I hope you're carving out some time to recharge, and if you caught any of the World Cup this summer, I hope it delivered. We had a blast with ours. I took the family out to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara to watch Türkiye take on Paraguay, and I have to say, being in that sellout crowd of 68,827 people from every corner of the world was one of those experiences you don't forget. First World Cup with 48 teams and 104 matches, and somehow the whole thing flew by.

It's been a full summer in the best possible way. My youngest son just graduated from high school, a proud moment that snuck up on me faster than I expected, and it's been a great reminder to take a breath and appreciate the milestones as they come.

On the work front, it's been an equally energizing few months. I had the chance to attend both the Harvard Business Review AI Strategy Summit and Stripe Sessions 2026, and I came away from both with a real sense that something has shifted. The AI conversation has moved on from “should we?” to “how fast?”, and the companies I'm seeing win right now are the ones pairing strong platforms with clear-eyed strategy, not just chasing the next tool.

I wanted to share some of what I heard, what I think it means, and, more specifically, the handful of moves I'm seeing Point Monarch clients make right now that are actually paying off. If you're wondering whether any of this applies to your business, that's exactly the kind of question I like getting. Just hit reply to this email.

All my best,
Tim

The BUZZ - The Top 5 List

So, what’s the buzz—what’s trending, what’s new, what’s got everyone talking? Based on my observations and conversations at the HBR AI Strategy Summit and Stripe Sessions 2026, these were the key themes that emerged.

1. AI Is Moving From Experiment to Execution
Harvard Business Review's 2025 Prize-winning framework makes it clear: leaders who treat AI as a “wait and see” technology are already falling behind. The companies pulling ahead are those with a disciplined strategy for where AI adds value — distinguishing between tasks suited to automation and those that require human judgment, ethical reasoning, and contextual expertise.

Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz made the point at the Summit in a way that stuck with me: AI has accelerated the company's product development without replacing the creativity behind it — the turnaround came from simplifying strategy and reshaping talent alongside the technology, not from the technology alone. That matches what I'm seeing across clients almost exactly.

If you're still mapping out where AI actually belongs in your operation versus where it doesn't, that's the exact conversation I'm having with clients right now — happy to compare notes.

2. Stripe Is Building the Economic Infrastructure for AI
At Stripe Sessions 2026, CEO Patrick Collison declared that Stripe is building the economic infrastructure for the AI era — and every product announcement reinforced it. The keynote pointed to a parabolic rise in new business formation on the platform since Q1 2026, with the entire economy replatforming around AI at speed.

The scale backs it up: Stripe shipped 288 new products and features at this year's Sessions, expanded its Agentic Commerce Suite through new partnerships with Meta and Google, and its Link agent wallet is already handling purchases for over 250 million users.

Infrastructure decisions made this year will be expensive to unwind in two — if you're evaluating platform bets, I'd rather help you get it right the first time than help you fix it later.

3. Agentic Commerce Is Reshaping Payments
One of the most compelling themes at Stripe Sessions 2026 was the rise of agentic commerce, AI agents that purchase on behalf of consumers. This shifts the entire payments infrastructure conversation, from authentication models and agent credentialing to fraud detection and merchant APIs built for non-human buyers.

Concretely, that's showing up as one-time-use payment credentials issued per agent task, and a new Machine Payments Protocol co-authored with Tempo for micro- and recurring machine-to-machine transactions. Forrester is projecting that 90% of B2B buying will be agent-intermediated by 2028 — roughly $15 trillion in spend moving through a fundamentally different purchasing model.

This is a newer area for most finance and ops leaders I talk to, which makes it a good time to get ahead of it rather than react once agent-driven purchasing shows up in your fraud numbers.

4. Financial Infrastructure Is Now a Growth Lever
Payments, embedded finance, and platform-based infrastructure are no longer back-office considerations — they are central to how companies compete. Leaders at Stripe Sessions 2026 were focused on revenue model innovation, AI-powered payment optimization, vertical SaaS buildouts, and stablecoins as an emerging transactional layer.

The clearest signal came just after Sessions: in June, Stripe joined Visa, Mastercard, Coinbase, BlackRock, and more than 140 other companies in backing Open USD, a new dollar-backed stablecoin initiative. Stablecoins are moving from experimental rail to core transactional infrastructure faster than most finance teams have planned for.

If your finance stack still feels like a cost center rather than a lever, that's usually the first thing worth rethinking — it's often where I find the fastest wins for clients.

5. The Next Wave of Client Experience Requires a New Mandate
The convergence of AI, smarter workflows, and seamless financial infrastructure is raising the bar for what clients expect. Personalized, proactive, secure, and efficient — these are now table stakes, not differentiators. Business leaders must connect strategy, technology, and execution to make the front end simpler and the back end smarter.

There's a sharper version of this point worth sitting with: as more buying routes through AI agents rather than a company's own website or app, the client experience question stops being "how do we design our funnel" and becomes "how do we stay reachable and trustworthy when we no longer control where buying begins.

This is the connective work Point Monarch does — tying strategy, tech, and execution together so the pieces above actually work as one system instead of five separate initiatives.
